UK Government Covid Support Continues
by The Payroll Manager on 09/28/20When the current Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme (CJRS) comes to a close at the end of October the UK Government has a new scheme to protect viable jobs. Although the detail of how the scheme will operate is a bit sketchy, the basic principle is that employees must be working and paid for at least one third of their normal contracted hours. The employer and the UK Government will then pay one third each of the remaining hours. This means that the employer will be paying 55% and the UK Government will be contributing 22%. It follows that employees will be receiving 77% of their normal pay subject to a cap of 697.72GBP on the UK Government's contribution.
More to follow once the finer details have been released...
